Funeral services for Louise E. Johnson will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with the Pastor Jamie Strickler officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Louise E. Johnson, 97 years of age, of Holdrege passed away at Holdrege Memorial Homes on Monday, July 23, 2012. Louise was born June 22, 1915, three miles southeast of Funk in Phelps County, Nebraska, the fifth of seven children born to John William and Matilda Louise (Nelson) Singleterry.
Louise was baptized and confirmed in the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk and attended Rural School District #18 east of Funk.
On July 29, 1936 she was united in marriage to Hugo William Johnson of Holdrege and to this union one daughter was born, Janet.
The family farmed four years northeast of Holdrege before moving to the farm north of Holdrege where they resided until their retirement in 1968 when they moved into Holdrege. On December 2, 1986 she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo.
Louise was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
Besides her parents and husband, Hugo, Louise was preceded in death by one grandson, Ronald Swanson; five brothers: Chester Singleterry, Archie Singleterry, Kenneth Singleterry, Warren Singleterry, Lee Singleterry; and one sister, Irene Lavalleur.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Janet Swanson and her husband, Stanley of West Sacramento, California; two grandchildren: Debra Swanson of Folsom, California and Jeffrey Swanson and his wife, Lisa of West Sacramento; three great-grandchildren: Kirsten Swanson of Folsom, Tiffany and Ryon Swanson of West Sacramento; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
