Margie “Charlene” Wolf, 84 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Charlene was born April 1, 1928 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the second of five children born to William Edgar and Flossie (Edelman) Riley. She received her education at Alma, graduating from Alma High School with the class of 1946.
On July 4, 1946, Charlene was united in marriage to Dean Roger Wolf of rural Alma. Charlene resided at Millington, Tennessee, while Dean was an aviation cadet in the Naval Air Corp. After which, they returned to live on the Wolf farmstead, south of the Republican River. To this union three children were born: Stephen, Deborah, and David. The construction of the Harlan County Dam in 1951 forced them to relocate so they built a home and moved to a farm on the Prairie Dog Creek. Following the death of her husband in 2007, Charlene and her son, Steve moved to a little house north of Alma on the farmstead of her daughter, where she resided almost three years until she required nursing home care.
Charlene loved to cook and bake and always had something delicious to share with family, neighbors and friends. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling and fishing.
Besides her parents and husband, Dean, Charlene was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, KayLee Wolf; and a brother-in-law, Lewis Artz.
She leaves to mourn her passing; her loving and devoted caretaker and son, Stephen Wolf, daughter, Deb Woollen and her husband, Terry, son, David Wolf and his wife, Kay all of rural Alma; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Butch Riley and his wife, Wauneta of Republican City, Nebraska; sisters: Shirley Fischer of Kearney, Nebraska, Barbara Artz of Minden, Nebraska and Mary Lou Fecht and her husband, Ben of Amherst, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
