Memorial Services for Albert R. Voshell will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Hospice Chaplain Peggy Michael-Rush, officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Albert Roland "Al" Voshell, 70 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Mt. Carmel Home – Keens Memorial in Kearney, Nebraska. He was born September 9, 1940 at Akeley Minnesota, the ninth of ten children born to Clyde and Anna (Schwietzer) Voshell. He received his education at Akeley, graduating from Akeley High School with the class of 1958.
Following his education, Al was united in marriage to Lila Jean Case on August 15, 1958 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and to this union three sons were born: Russell Lee, Dennis Allen and Kevin Dean. The family moved to Holdrege in 1971and then settled to Loomis in 1972. Al was employed as an auto mechanic for Ford and Chevy Dealerships until his retirement.
He was a past member of the Loomis Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aries #3132 since 1981; he was President from 1985 – 1986, was trustee for over 15 years and held other offices for 30 plus years. He was honored and felt privileged to have served with his fellow officers and at the time of his passing he was the longest standing member to hold numerous offices. Al enjoyed camping and hunting in his earlier years, and loved to tinker in his "shed" after retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin; three brothers: Leonard, Kenneth and Donald; three half-brothers: Ted, Dick, and Walter Young; and one half-sister, Clara (Young) Johnson.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Lila of Loomis; two sons: Russ Voshell and his wife, Deanna of Holdrege and Dennis Voshell of Michigan; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Carol Edelman and her husband, Lyle of Akeley; half-brother, Clarence "Bunny" Young and his wife, Vernal of Herman, MN; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring his wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
