Alfred "Al" M. Regelin

Funeral Services for Alfred M. "Al" Regelin will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with military honors provided by the North Platte Honor Guard in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.

Alfred Marion "Al" Regelin, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on January 31, 2016 at his home in Holdrege. He was born November 23, 1934 in Oxford, Nebraska, the son of Julius C. and Opal (Robinson) Regelin. On September 16, 1940, Al moved to the Christian Children's Home in Holdrege and attended Holdrege Public Schools. Al received his G.E.D in 1959 while serving with the United States Army. After his military service, he returned to Holdrege, where he served two years with the Nebraska National Guard and two years in the Army Reserves.

Al worked for Carl J. E. Johnson on the farm until 1960, when he started his employment with Allard's Sanitation. In 1986, the company was sold to Orcutt Sanitation and Al continued to work in the sanitation business until his retirement in 1996. Following retirement, Al also enjoyed helping many people in the Holdrege area with grass and yard removal.

Al was a member of the Holdrege American Legion Post #66, the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge and the F.O.E. Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed sporting events, and excelled at track in high school sprints. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, baseball, bowled on a league for many years and enjoyed putting together puzzles as a past-time.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Al leaves to celebrate his life; many special friends and a host of cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Al's honor and will be designated at a later date.
