Funeral Services for Alice F. Dietz will be conducted from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Thalia Woodworth, officiating. Interment will be held in the Orleans Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska.
Alice Fern Dietz, 94 years of age, of Orleans, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Harlan County Health Systems in Alma, Nebraska. Alice was born March 29, 1917 in rural Orleans, the seventh of nine children born to Theodore and Elfrieda (Matthies) Tiedje. She received her education at Orleans High School graduating with the class of 1936.
On July 19, 1940 she was united in marriage to Edward C. Dietz in Stockton, Kansas and to this union four children were born: Allan, Sharon, Linda and Patrick. The family made their home in Orleans.
Alice was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Sorority and the Orleans Birthday Club. She enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, traveling and eating out with her family.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward in May 2011; six brothers; and two sisters.
She leaves to mourn her passing her four children: Allan Dietz and his wife, Joan of Kearney, Sharon Johnson and her husband, Don of Dallas, Texas, Linda Dietz and her husband, Jean-Louis Beaudonnet of Miami Beach, Florida, and Patrick Dietz and his wife, Judy of Orleans; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pauline Holterman and her husband, Orville of Norton, Kansas, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a private family visitation.
