A Memorial Service for Alice Richardson will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Holdrege Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Jean Clayton officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Alice Richardson, 93 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at her home in Holdrege. Alice was born in Polk, Nebraska, on September 8, 1930, the youngest of three daughters born to Carl and Lily (Swanson) Lind. She was baptized in infancy. The family moved to Stromsburg, Nebraska, when Alice was 4 years old and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, when Alice was in Jr. High. She received her secondary education and graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School, with the class of 1948.
Alice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Christensen on February 12, 1949. Their son, Steven was born a year later on their first anniversary. A daughter, Sue, joined the family two years later. Alice was a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Hastings, Nebraska, in 1956 and the couple purchased the Western Auto Store and Don and Alice worked and ran the store together.
In 1962, the family moved to Holdrege and purchased and operated the Western Ace Hardware and Appliance Store for 30 years. In 1990, Alice went to work as a bookkeeper at Mosaic, until her retirement. Don passed away in 1993.
In 1997, Alice was united in marriage to Dick Richardson. Together they enjoyed 11 years. He passed away in 2016.
Alice had many hobbies, including: golfing, traveling (Hawaii, England, Mexico, Canada and across the United States), cheering on the Huskers and winning big at the casinos. She enjoyed watching the grandchildren's activities and having them for long weekends, hosting events for friends, making cards, and playing games on her computer, watching Judge Judy and she loved having lunch or breakfast at the Cozy Inn Café. She loved her dogs fiercely, her current little fur baby, Lindy, was her constant companion.
She was a member of the Holdrege First United Methodist Church, where she recently received her certificate for being a member for 85 years. She was also a member of the B.P.O. of Elks Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie #3132 Auxiliary, where she served in many capacities, throughout the years.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Edith Christensen; her two husbands; two great-grandsons: Alex Ben Christensen, and Gaven Wilson; two sisters, Dorothy in infancy and Doris Ridolfi; along with many other relatives and many friends.
She is survived by her children: Steve Christensen and wife, Char of Holdrege; and Sue Ziems and husband, Gary of Minden, Nebraska; grandsons: Tyler Christensen and wife, Stacie; and Scott Ziems and wife, Laurie; granddaughters: Tara Horning and husband, Robert; and Kristen Wilson and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren: Eli, Isaac, Jace, and Luke Christensen; Hunter, Cooper, Izzy, Brittanie, Kassey, Patrick, Micah, Finn, and McKenzie Ziems; Asher Wilson and wife, Grace; Tate Wilson and wife, Taylor; and Perry Wilson; great-great-grandchildren: Brooks, Jude, and Blake Wilson; two sisters-in-law: Lois Gardels; and Rosalie Geier; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will not be a visitation, viewing, or memorial book signing the evening prior to the service.
Memorials in Alice's honor are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
