Memorial Services for Allan F. Daily will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Mr. Dan Vonderfecht officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Allan Frank Daily, 84 years of age, of Atlanta, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society - Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska. Allan was born June 5, 1931 on a farm near McFarland, Kansas, the third born to Frank and Lela (Porter) Daily. Allan's father, Frank passed away of tuberculosis in Idaho three months prior to Allan being born. His mother, Lela brought Frank's body back to McFarland, Kansas on the train, along with their two children: Leola and Donald. Allan was then born on June 5th of 1931. Later Lela married Henry Rolfsmeyer and they had one son, Dean. Lela accepted Henry's children: Carl, Edwin, and Mary Lou as her own and they blended the two families together as one. Allan's childhood years were spent in Milford, Nebraska, and later moved to a farm south of Bertrand, Nebraska. He spent the rest of his life in the Oxford-Atlanta area. He was a farmer and later was employed as a mechanic at McClymont Implement at Holdrege until his retirement.
On January 21, 1956, Allan married Anna Lee Kerr in Beaver City, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with five children: David Allan, Dale Eldon, Darlene Ann, Frank Lynn, and Melody Annette.
Those who met Allan would agree that he was the nicest man you ever met. He began studying the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses in 1955 and became a bible teacher. He was a devoted member of the Holdrege Kingdom Hall – Jehovah's Witnesses. He knew Jesus had likened death to sleep and promises a resurrection to a paradise earth. He was known for being a hard worker who would help anyone. He lived to do favors for many people. He loved creation, spending much time outdoors and in his large garden. He loved to share its bounty with others. Allan also loved spending time with his grandchildren, going on walks, giving rides on his lawnmower, and many other things.
Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his two sisters: Leola Meisner and Mary Lou Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Daily of Atlanta; his children: David Daily and his wife, Janene of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Dale Daily and his wife, Sheila of Holdrege, Darlene Daily of Oxford, Frank Daily and his wife, Shelli of Holdrege and Melody Vlach and her husband, Lee of Republican City, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Amanda and Tyler Daily, Ashley and Andrew Daily, and Adam, Alex, and Alissa Vlach; four brothers: Donald Daily and his special friend, Joan Falley of Wamego, Kansas, Dean Rolfsmeyer and his wife, Mary Jean of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carl Rolfsmeyer and his wife, Lois of Beaver Dam, Arizona, and Edwin Weeks of Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Allan's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Allan's honor and will be designated at a later date.
