Amy Jo Furlong, 38 years of age of Bertrand, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Kearney Regional Health Center in Kearney, Nebraska. Amy was born May 3, 1980 in Loveland, Colorado, the third of five children born to Paul and Connie (Gardine) Brooks.  She received her education from Bertrand High School, where she graduated with the class of 1998. Amy then pursued higher education from North Iowa Area Community College, where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing.

On June 9, 2001 she was united in marriage to Matthew Furlong at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege.  This union was blessed with two children:  Adyson and Jackson.  The family made their home in Kearney, where Amy worked at Good Samaritan Hospital.  Amy and Matt later divorced.  Amy furthered her education and became an Occupational Massage Therapist, practicing in Bertrand.

Amy was a nurturer.  She loved watching her children's activities; spoiling her nieces and nephews; and taking care of others, as a nurse and massage therapist.  She had a love for running, which she executed by running cross country in college and different marathons.  Amy's wit, honesty and love for sour candy, was well known by all.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Connie Brooks in 2015; and grandfather, Harry Gardine.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her children: Adyson Furlong of Manhattan, Kansas and Jackson Furlong of Bertrand; her father, Paul Brooks of Bertrand; four siblings: Chad Brooks and his wife, Jenell and their two children: Taylor and Noah of Denver, Colorado; Angela Neill and her husband, Ross and their five children: Declan, Zoe, Brogan, Connell and Rowan of Salado, Texas; Dustin Brooks and wife, Bernadette of San Antonio, Texas and their son, Elijah; and Tabatha Thorell and her husband, Tracy with their three daughters: Adrianna, Emilynn, and Omni of Loomis, Nebraska;  grandmother, Phyllis Maaske of Bertrand; along with a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
