Memorial Services for Ann McClymont will be conducted from the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr., officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, prior to the services.
Ann Linwood (Kenner) McClymont, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at St. Elizabeth's Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born November 9, 1927 in Wenatchee, Washington, the third of four children of James Rupert and Dorothy (Wetherald) Kenner. Ann grew up in Hebron, Nebraska with brother, Jim and sisters: Margaret and Jane. She attended Hebron High School and graduated from Monticello Preparatory College in Alton, Illinois. Ann then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
On December 29, 1948 Ann was united in marriage to Philip Reed McClymont, Sr. of Holdrege and to this union six children were born: Margaret, Reed, David, Molly, Peter and Edward. The couple made their home in Holdrege, where they engaged in the family farming and ranching operation.
Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holdrege, where she was an elder, deacon and taught Sunday school and confirmation for many years. She was a countess in the 1948 Ak-Sar-Ben Court, enjoyed tending to her garden, was an excellent cook, volunteered her time with Meals-On-Wheels for many years and loved spending time with her family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Phil of Holdrege, her daughter, Margaret McClymont of Alamosa, CO, four sons: Reed McClymont and his wife, Sheryl of Holdrege, David McClymont and his wife, Gretchen of Novi, Michigan, Pete McClymont of Lincoln, and Ed McClymont and his wife, Renee of Norfolk, Nebraska; ten grandchildren: Meghan Hartman and her husband, Rob, Berry Nelson and her husband, Tom, Philip McClymont, Stacie Christensen and her husband, Tyler, Travis Nelson and his wife, Kazia, Molly, Kate, Sadie and George McClymont and Will McClymont; one great-grandson, Anthony Nelson; brother, Jim Kenner and his wife, Jan of Hebron; sister, Jane Bolt of Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law, Rowland McClymont of Holdrege and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Molly McClymont in infancy; grandson, Samuel Henry McClymont and sister, Margaret Wiedman.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Ann's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in her memory and suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Holdrege or LaPuente Homeless Shelter in Alamosa, CO.
