Funeral Services for G. Annella Schroeder will be conducted from the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Dale Hedstrom, officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery.

G. Annella Schroeder, 86 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. Annella was born September 22, 1921 on the family farm southeast of Cambridge in Furnas County, Nebraska, the youngest of twelve children of John and Myrtle (Clarkson) Sayer. She received her education from Cambridge High School, graduating with the class of 1939.

Following her education, Annella was united in marriage to Otto Herman Schroeder on September 5, 1942 and they made their home on the farm where Otto was born south of Oxford. Annella loved the great outdoors, worked side-by-side with Otto on the farm and focused on raising their children. She also did wallpapering and painting for several area families. Upon their retirement, Annella and Otto moved their house into Oxford and she was employed at the Golden Generation Center as the cook for many years. On March 11, 1996 she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto.

Annella was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Joy Circle and baked many sour cream chocolate cakes for numerous church functions, held several offices in the Oxford PTA, was known as the "cotton candy lady" at the 4-H and school carnivals and was active in the past with the Furnas County Extension Programs. She was a charter member of both the Southside Social Club and the ABC (A Better Community) Club and volunteered at the Oxford Thrift Store. Annella loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, family reunions, cooking and baking, playing cards, tending to her garden and chickens.


She leaves to mourn her passing her five children: Dr. Gene Schroeder and his wife, Myra of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Ray Schroeder and his wife, Sheryl of Lincoln, Nebraska, Lois Smith and her husband, Paul of Grand Island, Nebraska, Max Schroeder and his wife, Kathy of Hastings, Nebraska and Lyle Schroeder and his wife, Lynne of Yutan, Nebraska; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and special caregiver, Kenneth Johnsen of Oxford and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Otto she was preceded in death by her son, Duane Otto Schroeder in infancy, her parents, five brothers and six sisters.

Annella will lie in state at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Thursday, December 27, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
