Memorial services for Ardean E. Roehrs will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege with the Rev. Kenton Birtell officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in York, NE.

Ardean Edward Roehrs, 75 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. He was born on September 19, 1933 in Hampton, Nebraska, the youngest of eight children of August and Ida (Opfer) Roehrs. He attended Zion Lutheran School near Hampton, Nebraska and later graduated with the York High School class of 1951. After graduation, Ardean worked for York Plumbing and Heating before enlisting into the United States Army where he proudly served his country.


On November 6, 1955 he was united in marriage to Thelma Kaiser at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in York, Nebraska, and to this union three children were born: Kim, Jerry and Peggy. The family made their home in York where Ardean was employed by York Plumbing and Heating. In 1975 the family moved to Holdrege. Ardean later worked for W.F. Anderson plumbing and for Holdrege Public Schools.


Ardean was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of York, Nebraska as well as Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Ardean was an avid Nebraska Huskers Football fan. He was a very caring and honest person.


He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Thelma, of Holdrege; two daughters, Kim Moore and her husband Jerry, and Peggy Roehrs, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; one son, Jerry Roehrs and his wife Odessa, of Pleasantdale, Nebraska; sisters, Elva Wall and Norma Gallant and her husband Bill, all of Tucson, Arizona; brothers, Orville Roehrs of Grand Island, Nebraska and Raymond Roehrs and his wife Norma, of Osceola, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Doris Roehrs, of Lincoln, Nebraska; four grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Erma Driewier and Verla Rathje; one brother, Gilbert Roehrs; brother-in-law, Donald Wall and sister-in-law, Marjorie Roehrs.


There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Ardean's wish for cremation.


A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
