Funeral Services for Ardelle A. Anderson will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Murray Jones, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Ardelle A. Anderson, 85 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Ardelle was born on March 3, 1923 in Holdrege, Nebraska, the second of three children born to Clifford S. and Linnea M.O. (Johnson) Anderson. She attended Holdrege Public Schools and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1941. She then pursued higher education at Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska.
She worked as a secretary in Holdrege at the Brewster Clinic for a few years and then in Omaha and also Chicago, Illinois, where she met and was united in marriage to Wilbur L. Anderson in 1960. In December of 1963 the couple along with Wilbur's two children moved to Longmont, Colorado and a year later to Colorado Springs. They resided at Colorado Springs except for three years spent in Arkansas, returning to Holdrege following Wilbur's retirement in February of 1979.
At the time of her death she was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, where she had been confirmed and baptized as a teenager. In the various locations in which she lived, she always transferred her membership to a Free Church in the area and served in many capacities throughout the years. She was also very active in the Gideon Auxiliary organization whenever possible and as long as her health permitted. For several years she enjoyed china painting as a hobby.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Wilbur of Holdrege; her step-daughter, Paula Jean Coffey and her husband, Jim of Chariton, Iowa; two grandchildren: Erik Coffey and his wife, BG of Bethany, Missouri and Erin Coffey of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; two great-grandchildren: Carci Kae Coffey and Crae Ian James Coffey; one brother, Dr. Robert Anderson and his wife, Mary Anna of Holdrege; five nephews: Dr. Scott Anderson and his wife, Sandy of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Mark Anderson and his wife, Delia of New Lenox, Illinois, Dr. Daniel Anderson and his wife, Karen of North Mankato, Minnesota, John Driscoll and his wife, Jeanne of Metairie, LA, Dr. Philip Driscoll Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Browning, Montana; one niece, Mary Kennedy and her husband, Dr. Thomas Kennedy of Metairie, LA; two aunts: Evelyn Magnuson of Waterford, Michigan and Lois Johnson of Pontiac, Michigan; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Imogene, and stepson, Wayne Lawrence.
Ardelle will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and suggested to Gideon's International.
