Arthur Fredrick Duensing, 99 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center at Holdrege. He was born on March 26, 1919 at Deshler, Nebraska, the fourth of five children born to Louis and Freida (Werner) Duensing. In 1925, the family moved to Norton, Kansas, where Art received his primary education from a parochial school through the 8th grade.
On March 16, 1943, Art was united in marriage to Lois Arlene Hamel, at her sister's house. Art was inducted into the United States Army in 1945, and served his country in Germany, Iran and various other locations, during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Upon his return, the couple made their home on a farm, northwest of Holbrook, where he and Lois worked together. On April 13, 1948, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Phyllis. The family continued to farm until moving to town in 1964. Art then began working at the Holbrook CO-OP, retiring in 1982. In 1999, Art and Lois moved to a farm south of Oxford, to be closer to their family.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Holbrook for over 50 years, serving as Deacon, Trustee and Usher and after moving to Oxford, he enjoyed the many friendships and fellowship at the First Baptist Church of Oxford. Art took great pride in his yard and garden, tinkering with small engines and machines, and attending his grandson's events and later his great-grandchildren's events.
Besides his parents and wife, Lois in 2011; Art was preceded in death by his sisters: Erna Wegener, Hulda Raile, Lorna Hilgendorf and their husbands; and one brother Walter Duensing and his wife.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his daughter, Phyllis McInturf and her husband, Ed of Oxford; grandson, Neal McInturf and his wife, Margaret of Oxford; great-grandson, Phil McInturf of Oxford; great-granddaughter, Laura McInturf of Oxford; and a host of other relatives and friends.
