Graveside services for Arva Jean Cuckler will be held at Highland Cemetery in Bertrand, Nebraska on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Darrel Wissmann officiating.

Arva Jean Cuckler, 91 years of age, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away on February 26, 2018. She was born on May 13, 1926 in Bertrand to William and Daphne Walters.  She graduated from Bertrand High School in 1943.  She married Raymond E. Cuckler on December 27, 1947 in Cambridge, Nebraska.  Raymond and Arva Jean had three sons: Robert, Stephen and Michael.

Arva Jean and Raymond moved to Walla Walla, Washington in 1956, where they both worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Arva Jean left the Corps of Engineers for a number of years to raise her children.

On retirement Arva Jean and Raymond moved to Yuma, initially as "snowbirds" and eventually as permanent residents.  They both enjoyed traveling and golf as well as arts and crafts.  After Raymond's passing in 2010, Arva Jean continued her passion for golf and was a member of the Foothills Par 3 Ladies Club.  She was also a long-time volunteer with Helping Hands of Yuma, and for a number of years she hosted the Helping Hands Crafts Group in her home.  Arva Jean lived at her home in Yuma until her death on February 26th.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Raymond; son Stephen Ray; parents: William and Daphne Walters; brother, Bill; sister, Meredith and her husband Earl.

Arva Jean is survived by her two sons: Robert Cuckler of Seattle, Washington, and Michael Cuckler and wife, Kathleen of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren: Clay and Sara of Lewisville, Texas, and Sean and Samantha of Austin, Texas.  Arva Jean is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial celebrating Arva Jean's life was held at Sunset Vista Funeral Home in Yuma on March 10.
