Funeral Services for August Leo Jack Skiles Nitchie will be conducted from the St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Karen Watson, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

August Leo Jack Skiles Nitchie, 22 days of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege following complications from Trisomy 18. August was born December 29, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Jason and Andrea (Skiles) Nitchie. After a few days in the hospital, August was able to go home to Holdrege with his parents and his big brother and sister. August was an inspiration to this family and brought Hope to many people as he was loved and cared for during his brief time at home. He filled the world with Hope and Light and will be missed deeply.

He leaves to mourn his passing his parents: Jason and Andrea Nitchie; brother, Clemens and sister, Ada all of Holdrege; grandparents: Brad and Rita Skiles of Huntley, Nebraska and Bryan and Jean Nitchie of Holdrege; great-grandparents: Virgil and Edith Ann Sims, Donna Harmon all of Holdrege and Robert Harms of Alma, Nebraska; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends he touched deeply.

August was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Everett Nitchie, Orval and Evelyn Skiles, Henrietta Harms and Lester Harmon.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
