Private Family Graveside Services for Barbara G. Lanman were held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Alma Cemetery in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Bell officiating.
Barbara Gail Lanman, 63 years of age, of Pawling, New York, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at her home in Pawling, with her family by her side. Barbara was born April 14, 1951 in Orleans, Nebraska, the third daughter born to Kenneth Joe and Berniece Ellen Lanman. She attended Wilbur Public schools and graduated from Wilbur High School with the class of 1969 and then went on to further her education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She worked as an interpreter for the deaf and facilitated the development of deaf ministry at the Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Leaving Nebraska, Barbara became the Director of Deaf Ministries for the Mill Neck School for the Deaf in Long Island, New York.
In 2007, Barbara took on a new challenge in life. She successfully opened and operated the Pawling House Bed and Breakfast in Pawling, New York. As a wonderful innkeeper and hostess, guest were always "warmly greeted and well treated."
Barbara had many hobbies including knitting, traveling, gardening and making soups. But most of all, her joy was playing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by, her father, Kenneth Lanman and her sister, Connie Jean.
Barb leaves to mourn her passing her beloved children: Aniece Collins and her husband, Josh of Pawling, New York and Reece Sukovaty and his wife, Sarah of Hickman, Nebraska; her cherished grandchildren: Hayden, Sofia, and Wyatt Collins and Elise and Ensley Sukovaty; her mother, Berniece Lanman of Alma, Nebraska; sister, Donna Anthony and her husband, Calvin of Glendale, Arizona; and a host of nieces, other relatives, dear friends and her cat, Luka.
