Celebration of Life Service for Barbara J. Schuetz will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the North Park Assembly of God Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Steinbach officiating. Interment will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Barbara Jean Schuetz, 64 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born January 3, 1952 in Stromsburg, Nebraska, the third of ten children born to James and Charlotte (Ball) Kumpost. As a young child, Barbara's family moved to Holdrege, where she attended public school and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1970. She went on to attend Kearney State College, Central Bible College and in 1997, she received her degree in Bible and Human Resource Management from Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska.
In 1976, Barbara moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she worked as a file clerk for Miller & Paine. She married Elmer Schuetz in 1980 and they had one son, Aaron James who was born in 1981. In 1991, she moved back to Holdrege and was employed as a CNA at Christian Homes until retiring due to health reasons in 2015.
Barbara had a strong personal relationship with the Lord and attended North Park Assembly of God Church. She served in many capacities helping with Awanas, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, Bible Study and participating in the Relay For Life. Barbara will be remembered for her sweet, gentle spirit and her thoughtfulness for others.
Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Kumpost.
She is survived by her son, Aaron Schuetz of Colorado; siblings: Mary Lou Jensen of Kearney, James Kumpost and his wife, Laura of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, David Kumpost and his wife, Beth of Anchorage, Alaska, Donald Kumpost and his wife, Liz of Schertz, Texas, Patricia Beaudette of Holdrege, Robert Kumpost and his wife, Crystal of Kearney, Missouri, Richard Kumpost and his wife, Dana of Lincoln, Nebraska, Timothy Kumpost of Kearney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Barbara's honor and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Public Library or the American Cancer Society.
