Memorial Services for Bernard D. Carlson will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holdrege Memorial Homes Chapel in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain Daren Popple officiating. Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Bernard Dean "Bernie" Carlson, 84 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. He was born on August 20, 1930 in Hastings, Nebraska, the eldest of two children born to Myron and Marie (Rutt) Carlson. Bernard received his education from Hastings Public Schools, graduating from Hastings High School with the class of 1949.
In 1951, he was united in marriage to Claudette Pedersen and to this union one son, Ronald was born. Bernard worked for the Debus Bakery which later changed to Metz Bakery for over 25 years in Hastings in the shipping and handling department.
Bernie was a member of the Presbyterian Faith and also was a member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed winning and playing cards and Bingo.
Bernie began to make his home at the Oxford Nursing Home in Oxford, Nebraska in 1996. He later moved to Holdrege Memorial Homes in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his son, Ron Carlson and his wife, Shirley of Bertrand; five grandchildren:
Danial Carlson and his wife, Tabitha of Grand Island, Nebraska, Tammi Jo Ebel of Monroe, Georgia, Renetta Hatfield of Bertrand, Nebraska, Robert Blake Hatfield of Dannebrog, Nebraska and Lance Hatfield of Bertrand; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Carlson and his wife, Lynn of Alamogordo, New Mexico; and a host of extended family and friends.
There will be no Memorial Book Signing. The family is honoring Bernie's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Bernard's honor and will be designated at a later date.
