Funeral Services for Betty H. (Beyerle) Geer will be conducted on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Holdrege Memorial Homes Chapel in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Jean Clayton, officiating. Interment will follow at Industry Cemetery at rural Atlanta, Nebraska.

Betty Helen Geer, 89 years of age of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Betty was born on December 18, 1928, in North Platte, Nebraska, the eldest of four daughters born to Charles and Vera (Eaton) Beyerle. Betty grew up and later graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1946. She pursued higher education from Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technique in St. Louis, Missouri. Betty was employed as a Laboratory Technician at Brewster Clinic in Holdrege, which later became Family Medical Specialties, until her retirement in 1991.

On August 27, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Carrol "Curly" Geer at the First Presbyterian Church in North Platte and to this union four children were born: Burton, Tom, Joni and Kelly. The family lived and farmed 10 miles north of Holdrege until 1974, when they moved closer to the family owned business, Rite-Way Milk Transfer, on the airport road. In retirement, Betty and Curly traveled frequently in their fifth-wheel RV and in later years, lived at Erlandson Square and wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona. Betty and Curly had been married 62 years when Curly died in 2012.

Betty cherished time spent with family, especially with her children and their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling, visiting with old friends and making new friends. She enjoyed playing Bridge, fishing, sewing and crafts, tending to her flower garden, cooking and baking, especially trying out new dishes, going out to eat, and reading.

She was active with the Phelps County Extension Office, serving as a chairman of the Fair Board and was active with 4H for many years. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holdrege.

Besides her parents and husband, Curly; Betty was preceded in death by: three sisters: Marcia Weesner and husband, Jack; Peggy Yocum and husband, Don; and Suzan Watters; three sisters-in-law: Reva (Wallace) Brown; Retha (Everett "Bud") David; and Louise Penney; brother-in-law, Burton Geer; three nephews, Todd Weesner, Ted Weesner, and Jim Watters; and a niece, Michelle Weesner.

Betty leaves to mourn her passing; her sons: Burt Geer and his wife, Denise of Federal Way, Washington, Tom Geer and his wife, Peggy of Omaha, Nebraska and Kelly Geer and his wife, Shari of Holdrege; one daughter, Joni Geer Sell and her husband, Larry of Lake Villa, Illinois; nine grandchildren: Amy Rassman and her husband, Tom, Jason Geer and special friend, Tiffany Padilla-Glen, Rikki Marohl and her husband, Jason, Joey Johnson and her husband, Randy, Shawn Geer and his wife, Lindsay, Nicholas Geer and his wife, Mira, Daniel Sell and special friend, Courtney Klemm, Deanna Sell and her special friend, Chase Tarrier, and Dylan Geer; nine great-grandchildren: Amber Powell and her husband, Seth, Zach and Oliver Marohl, Carmen and Reese Johnson, Eli "Gus", Caroline and Marley Geer and Ava Geer, and a much anticipated great-grandson, Tazen Geer; brother-in-law, Ed Watters of Peoria, Illinois; along with other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
