Funeral Services for Betty R. Isaacson will be conducted from the Westmark Evangelical Free Church north of Loomis, Nebraska on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastors Rick Smith and Kenneth Olenik, officiating. Interment will be in the Sandstrom Cemetery in Phelps County, Nebraska.
Betty Ruth (Bergman) Isaacson, 80 years of age, of rural Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008 at her home north of Loomis. She was born June 9, 1928 on the family farm north of Loomis in Phelps County, Nebraska, the third of four children of Joel and Hildur (Magnuson) Bergman. Betty received her education at Loomis, graduating from Loomis High School. She then pursued her teacher's certificate at the Kearney Normal School in Kearney, Nebraska. Betty then taught in rural schools in Phelps County.
On June 11, 1950 she was united in marriage to Delford Isaacson at the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church north of Holdrege. Following her marriage to Delford the couple engaged in farming north of Loomis for nearly 40 years. To this union four children were born: Norm, Mary, Steve and Laurie. While she was raising her family she was an avid gardener and enjoyed raising chickens. In their later years, the couple enjoyed spending time together making crafts and traveling to shows.
She was an active member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday school, was active in women's ministries and enjoyed the friendship bonds formed in Bible studies.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 58 years, Delford; her four children: Norm Isaacson and his wife, Betty of Loomis, Mary Porteck and her husband, Jeff of Tucson, AZ, Steve Isaacson and his wife, Gerri of Dalton, OH, and Laurie Duncan and her husband, Chuck of Loomis; fourteen grandchildren: Jennifer Pedersen and her husband, Mike of Marshalltown, IA; Rachel Montgomery and her husband, Andrew of Colorado Springs, CO; Christopher Isaacson and his wife, Cassie of Lenexa, KS; Jon Isaacson and his wife, Chelsea of Loomis; Chad Porteck, Ariel Porteck and Paige Porteck all of Tucson, AZ, Kelly Isaacson of Albuquerque, NM, Stephanie Taylor and her husband, Tim of Marshalltown, IA, Amanda Isaacson and Sven Isaacson both of Dalton, OH, Kimberly Schukar and her husband, Scott of Kearney, NE, Tiffany Duncan and Zach Duncan both of Lincoln, NE; ten great-grandchildren: Isabella, Luke and Seth Pedersen, Isaac, Elizabeth and Samuel Montgomery, Claire and Ava Isaacson, Mckinzi Crowell and Jace Schukar; two brothers: Lemoyne Bergman and his wife, Joyce and Grant Bergman and his wife, Donna all of Holdrege; one sister, Marilyn Olenik and her husband, Ken of Kearney; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband, Millard of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Dale Isaacson of Elm Creek, NE and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Ella Mae Isaacson.
Betty will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Thursday, July 31, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later time.
