Betty Ann (Johnson) Jacobson, 97 years of age, of Holdrege, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. She was born December 30, 1925, in Holdrege, the fifth of seven children born to Roy E. and Hanna (Hadeen) Johnson. Betty was baptized by Pastor Carl Dahlstedt at her grandparent's home. She attended Moses Hill District #14 country school and then attended and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1943. Betty then went to work at Mountain State Telephone Company in Denver, Colorado, from 1943 until she transferred to the Holdrege Telephone Company in 1947.
On October 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Warren M. Jacobson at her grandparent's home in Holdrege. They lived on the family farm and raised two children, LeRoy and Carlyn Ann. Betty loved living on the farm and working alongside her husband. In September of 2008, they moved to Chrisoma West and enjoyed the activities there.
The family was very active in the Moses Hill Church and Community. Betty was a Charter Member of the Moses Hill Covenant Women's Ministry, taught Sunday school for many years, and sang in the choir. Betty thoroughly enjoyed entertaining missionaries and pastors, as they came to town for meetings. She was also a member of the Neighborhood "Happy-Go-Lucky" Club. Betty enjoyed sewing quilt blocks for Covenant Women and projects for the family. But most of all, Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
"Thank Yous" always came easy for Mom to those who were helping her. We also say, "Thank You", to all those who have helped Mom in the last months.
Mom made a trip to visit her Texas Family in 2020 which she thoroughly enjoyed. Mom also enjoyed coming to the South Dakota farm, especially when the grandkids and great-grandkids came to visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; and twin granddaughters, Alisha Marie and Andrea Janae.
To celebrate her life, Betty leaves her children: son, LeRoy Jacobson and his wife, Jackie of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Carlyn Hofer and her husband, Darrell of Bridgewater, South Dakota; five grandchildren: Chelsie Jacobson of Boerne, Texas; Brent Jacobson and his wife, Molly of New Braunfels, Texas; Nels Jacobson and his wife, Teagan of Denton, Texas; Hallie Newsom and her husband, Cody of Mt. Vernon, Texas; and Nathan Hofer and his wife, Diandra of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 10 great-grandchildren: Finn Isaac, Jerusha Grace, and Jemina Sinclair Jacobson; Reece Urban, Rhett Alan, and Rhennon Cade Jacobson; Cap Owen and Jett Warren Newsom; and Aletta Joy and Gemma Faith Hofer; along with other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Betty's honor and kindly suggested to the missions at the church.
