Celebration of Life Services for Betty R. Johnson will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastors Darren Theesen and Daren Popple, officiating.  Interment will be held following the services at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Betty Rae Johnson, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Holdrege Memorial Homes.  She was born July 28, 1937 at Phillipsburg, Kansas, the third of six children born to Melvin and Catherine (Benedict) Williams.  She attended Phillipsburg Public Schools, graduating from Phillipsburg High School with the class of 1955.

On January 14, 1956, she was united in marriage to Allen Dale Johnson, and to this union six children were born:  Dale, Robert, Jimmie, Kenton, Barbara and Peggy.  Allen and Betty raised their family on a farm south of Holdrege.  When the children were young, Betty lovingly made all of the children's clothing, whether it was school clothes, Easter or Christmas dresses, or just a special pair of new pajamas prior to the surgery of one of her boys; each piece of clothing was made with Love.   In 1977, Betty suffered a severe stroke, and Allen dedicated his life to caring for his beloved wife, and support to his family.  As the years went by, Betty was always very thankful to her caregivers, and even though she was unable to communicate verbally, she had special ways to show her appreciation.  On September 16, 2010, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen.  In March of 2012, Betty began to make her home at Holdrege Memorial Homes.

The highlight of her life, and what she lived for was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Family was most important to Betty.  She loved her family and cherished all of the times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Bible school for many years.  She also enjoyed volunteering countless hours at the hospital with the Phelps Memorial Service League.  Being a huge sports fan, she loved supporting her children, and grandchildren in their activities throughout their school years, as well as her beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Betty also had a special place in her heart for her Toy Poodles.

Besides her parents and husband, Allen, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jade Johnson; two brothers: Warren and Bud Williams; one sister, Jean McAfee; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Johnny and Lena Johnson; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Mae Johnson.

Betty leaves to celebrate her life; her six children: Dale Johnson and his wife, Kim of Lincoln, Nebraska; Robert Johnson of Holdrege; Jim Johnson and his wife, Carla of Tempe, Arizona; Kenton Johnson and his wife, Kyla of Beatrice, Nebraska; and Barb Johnson and Peggy Mondt both of Holdrege; 15 grandchildren:  Blaze Johnson and his wife, Emily; Tasia Johnson; Anthony Johnson; Jeremy Johnson; Jace Johnson and his wife, Holly; Trev Johnson; Toni Wells and her husband, Nick; Toby Johnson and his wife, Chelsea; Taylor Johnson; Jessica Powley and her husband, Travis; Jarvis Johnson and his wife, Maggie; Jordan Wells and her husband, Randy; Bobbie Mondt; Mallarie Mondt; and Bryon Mondt; 19 great-grandchildren:  Izabelle and Anabelle Johnson; Trey Johnson; Lexas Johnson; Charli, Pyper and Harley Wells; Londyn and Livvy Johnson; Layne, Layton, and Logan Powley; Parker and Fletcher Johnson; Brooklyn, James and Axel Wells; Sammie Roach; and Baron Streeter; one sister, Shirley Quanz and her husband, Bob of Glade, Kansas; one brother, Jim Williams of Newberg, Oregon; sister-in-law, Lucy Williams of Leesburg, Virginia; brother-in-law, Jack McAfee of Vancouver, Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
