Bobby Duane Dietz, 93 years of age, of rural Orleans, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Premier Estates in Kenesaw, Nebraska. Bobby was born on March 19, 1930, southwest of Orleans in Harlan County, Nebraska, the eldest of four sons, born to Chris and Mildred (Stroh) Dietz. He received his education from District #60 country school through the 8th grade and then began farming with his father.
On November 28, 1950, Bobby enlisted into the United States Army National Guards and served with the 195th Tank Battalion. He was honorably discharged on November 27, 1956, following his reserve obligations.
On October 9, 1951, Bobby was united in marriage to Betty Ann Miller at a Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. They then began to make their home on a farm southwest of Orleans where they lived and raised their children: Barbara, Beverly, Brenda, and Bryan. Bobby began working for the Harlan County Department of Roads as a Heavy Machinery Operator in 1952. He also enjoyed farming, and raising crops and cattle.
He also enjoyed raising dogs, mainly miniature schnauzers, gardening, and playing practical jokes. Bobby loved to hunt and also loved to watch the wildlife on his property. In retirement, Bobby enjoyed raising melons and vegetables and selling them at farmer's markets along side Betty. He lived on the farm all his life until his health began to fail. He resided with and under the loving care of his daughter, Brenda for 17 months until he began to make his home at Premier Estates of Kenesaw in February.
Bobby was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska; and the Harold Morin American Legion Post #184 and Orleans Lion's Club both in Orleans.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; daughter and son-in-law: Barbara Mikessell and Dick; and his brother, Willis Dietz.
Bobby is survived by his children: Beverly Moore and her husband, Jim of Glenvil, Nebraska; Brenda Moore and her husband, Mike of Lexington, Nebraska; and Bryan Dietz of rural Orleans; three grandchildren: Rachel Payne of Kenesaw; Emily Moore of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Alina Moore of Glenvil; step-grandson, Brent Moore and his wife, Chrissy of North Platte, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren: Westyn and Tenley Prelle; step-great-grandchild, Aiden Moore; two brothers: James Dietz and his wife, Carol of Stamford; and Wayne Dietz and his wife, Sherry of Orleans; close family friend, Delvis Miller of Norton, Kansas; many nieces and nephews; along with other relatives, and friends.
