A Funeral Service for Bonna Walker will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Holdrege Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Brad Perry officiating.  Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege.

Bonna Mae (Howell) Walker, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at her home in Holdrege. Bonna was born on January 12, 1937, the fourth of five children born to Leslie and Clara (Keen) Howell, in Brush, Colorado.  She attended Westward elementary school in McCook, Nebraska and then graduated from McCook High School in 1955.

Bonna met her future husband while working the soda counter at Hested's in McCook.  Their first date was roller skating and on June 29, 1956, Bonna was united in marriage to Lyle "Ed" Walker at the Church of God in McCook. The couple lived in McCook for a year then moved to Enders, Nebraska for a short time.  They were blessed with four sons:  Greg, Doug, Rick, and Kevin.

When the family moved to Holdrege, Bonna began working at the Phelps County Road Department as a Secretary, and retired following 30 years.

Bonna enjoyed crafting, camping, enjoying her morning coffee with her clubs, and collecting giraffes. She was an avid bowler with the Wednesday afternoon league.

Bonna was a member of the Methodist Church in Holdrege for over 65 years.  She was active with teaching Sunday school class, and youth fellowship groups, leading Bible groups, and volunteering with the United Methodist Women's Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle "Ed" Walker; brothers:  Ray Howell and wife, Joy; and Gary Howell and wife, Delores; her sisters:  Viola "Evelyn" Haag and husband, Alfred; and Wavalee Couse and husband, Maurice.

Bonna is survived by her sons:  Greg Walker and wife, Jean of Holdrege; Doug Walker and wife, Sheila of Aurora, Colorado; Rick Walker of Alma, Nebraska; and Kevin Walker and wife, Mindy of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight grandchildren:  Kandis Tonsager (Wayne); Tiffany Rupp (Shawn); Braden Walker; Lindsey Winkler (Chris); Megan Hilsendager (Jeremy); Allie Hahne (Justin); Rachel Walker; and Lyndee Walker; 13 great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Bonna's honor and kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
