Bonnie Nadine Erickson, 90 years of age, of Wilcox, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska.  Bonnie was born April 1, 1926 at Madison, Nebraska, the third of four children born to George William and Edna Florence (Carson) Sanderson.  She received her education from Madison Public School, graduating from Madison High School with the class of 1944.  She then pursued higher education at the Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she entered the nurse cadet training program which prepared nurses for service during WW II.  She achieved her Registered Nursing degree in 1947.

On September 11, 1949, Bonnie was united in marriage to Dewaine R. Erickson in Lincoln, and to this union four children were born:  Ann Elaine, David Dewaine, Ellen Gay and Emily Sue.  The family made their home on a farm South of Wilcox, where they engaged in farming.  In 1960, they moved to the Snell family home in Wilcox, where Bonnie cared for their children and worked part-time at Brewster Hospital in Holdrege.  Bonnie also enjoyed teaching health classes at Wilcox Public Schools.  Bonnie and Dewaine celebrated their 65 th Wedding Anniversary on September 11, 2014.  On November 25, 2014 she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewaine.

She was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women.  Bonnie was an avid reader, loved tending to her flower garden, sewing, and was a wonderful cook.  A highlight of her life was sitting at the dining table, sharing hospitality and creating memories with family and friends.

Besides her husband, Dewaine and her parents; Bonnie was preceded in death by two children:  Ann Jurgens and David Erickson; and three brothers:  Francis Sanderson, James A. Sanderson, and Eugene Sanderson as a toddler.

Bonnie leaves to celebrate her life; her two daughters:  Ellen Richards and her husband, Jon of Ashland, Nebraska and Emily Lyons and her husband, Jeff of Wilcox; seven grandchildren:  Andrea (Jurgens) Day and her husband, Kelly Day, Melina, Christopher, Laura, and Stephen Lyons, and Eric and Kathleen Richards; two great-grandchildren:  Adson and Aleecia Day; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the church prior to the services from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016.
