Funeral Services for Bonnie J. Fish will be conducted from the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Robert E. Berlie Sr., officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
Bonnie Jean Fish, 79 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford) passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Bonnie was born October 21, 1927 at Stratton, Nebraska, the only child of Lloyd C. and Laura D. (Stevens) Lee. Bonnie received her primary education at Trenton and Stratton, Nebraska and then attended high school in California and Central City, Nebraska graduating from Central City High School with the class of 1945.
On February 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Robert "Wayne" Fish. In 1955, the couple moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. They were blessed with three children: Steven, Judy and Lisa. In 1964 they returned to farming in the Oxford area and Bonnie worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and later the Fritzer Memorial Hospital at Oxford as a Nurses Aide.
Bonnie was active in the United Methodist Church in Oxford, where she served as Sunday School teacher, served as an officer in the United Methodist Women and sang in the Choir. Bonnie was also a Girl Scout leader, a member and past officer of the Rebekah Lodge and Eastern Star and enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters: Judy Harms and her husband, Phil of Crete, Nebraska and Lisa Buchholz and her husband, Brian of York, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Christensen of Imperial, Nebraska; ten grandchildren: Erica, Emilee and Steven Fish, Grant, Nathan, Jacob and Rhett Harms and Jessica, Samantha and Hayden Buchholz; brother-in-law, Paul Fish of Halma, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Donna Jean Jensen of Arapahoe, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, special extended family including: John Irelan and his wife, Barb of Loveland, Colorado and Donald Irelan of Burlington, Colorado and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne on February 11, 2006; son, Steven; brothers-in-law: Dale Fish and his wife, Beulah and Vince Flammang and Bruno Jensen; sister-in-law, Doris Fish and special extended family, Marion and Elva Irelan and Robert and Marian Welsch.
Mrs. Fish will lie in state at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
