Service Notice Postponement: Due to a health concern with a family member, Private Celebration of Life Services for Brenton D. "Brent" Orme will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Kenton Birtell officiating.
The funeral services will be live-streamed via the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Facebook page.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services and Gatherings will be followed. The Orme family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend Brent's memorial book signing, based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community.
Brenton Daniel "Brent" Orme, 47 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in Holdrege. Brent was born on May 4, 1973, in Denver, Colorado, the younger of two children born to Larry and Linda (Grotzky) Orme. Brent attended the Jefferson County School system and graduated from Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, Colorado with the class of 1991. He then attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2001 with his Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences.
On December 27, 2003, Brent was united in marriage to Brandy Toft, in Fort Morgan, Colorado. The couple made their home in Brush, Colorado. Brent has always treated Trevor as his own. In 2005 Brent talked his family into moving to Holdrege, Nebraska where Brent was a teacher and coach. From 2018 until his death Brent taught and served as the school's Athletic Director at Northern Valley High School in Kansas.
Brent has always loved sports, his grandparents started him young as a Colorado Buffs fan. In High School he played: football, club volleyball, basketball and ran track and continued to throw the javelin in college. Brent also enjoyed fishing at Sandy Channel and occasional fishing trips. Family was so important to Brent as well as teaching and coaching today's youth.
He was preceded in death by; his grandparents: Jack and Daina Orme and Virgil and Anna Grotzky.
Brent is survived by: his wife, Brandy Orme of Holdrege; his son, Trevor Toft of Holdrege; his parents, Larry and Linda Orme of Lakewood, Colorado; one brother, Chris Orme and his wife Dana of Lakewood; father-in-law, Michael Toft of Casper, Wyoming, mother-in-law, Penny Harbert and her husband, Dan of Brush; brother-in-law, Mike Toft and his wife, Ashley of Benkelman, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Julie Blake and her husband, Mitch of Hillrose, Colorado; and Teryn Ramsey of Casper; along with his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. Face coverings will be required.
A memorial has been established in Brent's honor and kindly suggested to the the Holdrege Animal Shelter (Holdrege Animal Rescue), or the shelter of the individual's choosing.
