Celebration of Life Service for Brian J. Popple will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating. Following the visitation, cremation will take place, and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Axtell, Nebraska.
Brian James Popple, 66 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his home in Holdrege. Brian was born September 9, 1952 at Minden, Nebraska, the eleventh of twelve children, and one of twin boys born to William L. and Etta M. (Soderquist) Popple. Brian received his education from Axtell Public Schools, and graduated from Axtell High School with the class of 1971.
On September 13, 1982, he was united in marriage to Maureen Lynn Hansen in Kearney, Nebraska, and to this union they were blessed with two sons: Nicholas and Casey. The family made their home in Funk. Brian owned and operated Popple Construction Company, serving South Central, Nebraska for over 30 years. Throughout the years, Brian was proud to have worked side-by-side with his two sons. In January of 2018, Casey began taking over the family business.
Brian enjoyed fishing, Husker Football, golfing, and relaxing with his family. Brian's grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Mike Popple, Brad Popple, and Max Popple; sister, Colleen Warnken and her husband, Herb; and brother-in-law, Carl "Bud" Soneson.
Brian is survived by; his wife, Maureen; two sons: Nick Popple and his wife, Lisa of Troy, Kansas; and Casey Popple and his wife, Ashley of Holdrege; seven grandchildren: Adleigh, Braelyn, Cadence and Tytus Popple of Troy; and Grayson, Layla, and Oakley Popple of Holdrege; three brothers: Frank Popple and his wife, Margo of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Brent Popple of Holdrege; and Ed Popple of Orleans, Nebraska; four sisters: Peggy Soneson of St. Paul, Nebraska; Sue Roads and her husband, Don of Axtell; Sandy Johnson and her husband, Jerry of Minden, Nebraska; and Vicki Erickson of Austin, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Johanna Popple of Alma and Lois Popple of Axtell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in his Brian's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
