Funeral Services for Bruce Fiala will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska with Mr. Gary Janssen conducting. Interment will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Ainsworth Cemetery at Ainsworth, Nebraska.
Bruce Edward Fiala, 59 years of age, of Republican City, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, Nebraska, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Bruce was born October 26, 1957 in Ainsworth, Nebraska, the eldest of five children born to Donald J. and Berniece (Duda) Fiala. He grew up in Ainsworth and attended Ainsworth High School, graduating with the class of 1976. Following his graduation, he pursued higher education at Kearney State College.
On March 6, 1982, Bruce was united in marriage to Amy Johnson at the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth.
The couple made their home in Johnstown, Nebraska and were blessed with three sons: Ryan, Chance and Grayson. They later separated.
Bruce worked as a Claims Supervisor for QBE-NAU Crop Insurance. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren, his boys, his fiance and his family. He loved watching NASCAR, football, golf, old Western's, military shows and FOX News. Bruce and Rhonda enjoyed dancing, playing dominoes, and spending time with their friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father: Donald John Fiala in 1991.
Bruce leaves to celebrate his life; his fiancé, Rhonda Lawing of Republican City, NE; his sons: Ryan Fiala and his wife, Tiffany of Kearney, NE and their children: Ayden and Mason, Chance Fiala and his wife, Janna of Fort Collins, CO and their children: Paris, Miles, and Easton, and Grayson Fiala of Greeley, CO; three step children: Abby Knutson and Matt Rice of Brighton, CO and their children: Tre, Calub, Hailey, and Destini, David Lawing and Gely Longoria of Northglenn, CO and Tara Lawing and Salvador Herrera of Brighton, CO and their daughter, Amaya; mother, Berniece, (Duda) Fiala of Ainsworth; two brothers: Bryan Fiala of Grand Island, NE and Bradley Fiala and his wife, Ann of Ainsworth, NE; two sisters: Janice "Jan" Buoy and her husband, Merv of Bassett, NE and Jeannie Fritz and her husband, Richard of Center, NE; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.
A memorial has been established in Bruce's honor and will be designated at a later date.
