Bryce A Langenberg

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Bryce A. Langenberg will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Holdrege Memorial Homes Chapel, Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Kenton Birtell officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at the Highland Cemetery, Bertrand, Nebraska.

Bryce Allen Langenberg, 77 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney. Bryce was born on August 27, 1948, in Holdrege, the second of four children, born to Albert Fritz and Norma June (Way) Langenberg.  Bryce was baptized as an infant at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertrand and received his education from Bertrand Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1966.

He married Gidget Peterson and together they raised a son, Shawn.  That marriage later ended in divorce.  Bryce worked as a police chief in a small town in Kansas and then went on to over the road trucking.  He put on many miles, driving all over the United States.  In his later years, he was employed by CHS of Holdrege.  Following his retirement, he truly enjoyed working for the High Bros. of Bertrand, during harvest.

Bryce enjoyed flying, fishing, bowling, roller skating, dancing, and spending time in Colorado with his family.  In April 1962, he was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Bertrand and always kept his faith.  He was passionate about volunteering with the Phelps/Harlan County CASA.  He loved children and always wanted to help them any way he could.  Bryce loved Christmas time when he could play Santa, hand out candy, and say, "HO, HO, HO!"  The smile on his face and the children's faces was special.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bryce leaves to celebrate his life; his step-son, Shawn Peterson and his wife, Nancy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren:  Cody Peterson and his wife, Kayla of Colorado Springs; and Ashley Peterson and her fiancée, Rebekah Rouldin of Colorado Springs; one great-grandchild:  Callum Peterson; his siblings:  Larry Langenberg and wife, Joyce of Holdrege; Don Langenberg and his wife, Cheryl of Holdrege, and Connie Dodson and her husband, Jerry of Holdrege; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

There will not be a visitation, viewing or memorial book signing the evening prior to the service.  Bryce's family is honoring his wish for cremation.
