Funeral Services for Buryl F. Stewart will be conducted from the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Wes Holen, officiating. Interment will be in the Edison Cemetery at Edison, Nebraska.
Buryl Fay Stewart, 95 years of age, of Ogallala, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford, Nebraska) passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007 at Ogallala. Buryl was born May 9, 1912 in Gosper County, eight miles north of Edison, Nebraska, the eldest of two children of Elge E. and Hazel (Girch) Bard. Buryl received her education at District #7 in Gosper County. Following her education, Buryl worked in house keeping and childcare for several area families and also worked at the Blincow Café in Oxford.
On May 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Lewis Stewart at Norton, Kansas and to this union two daughters were born: Donna Cheryl and Rhonda Fay. The family made their home in Oxford, where Buryl was employed by the Walker Post Manor for over ten years. In 1991, she was preceded in death by her husband, James. In 2005, she moved to Ogallala to be near her daughter.
Buryl enjoyed piecing quilts, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Donna Jaeger and her husband, Ed of Ogallala; three grandsons: Chris Jaeger (Tracy) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Travis Jaeger (Sarah) of Brule, Nebraska and Doug Jaeger of Ogallala; five great-grandchildren: James, Wyatt, Austin, Nathan and Sadie Jaeger; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, James, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Rhonda Fay in infancy and one brother, Melvin Bard.
Mrs. Stewart will lie in state on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford.
