C. Elaine Beedle

Graveside Services for C. Elaine Beedle will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating.

C. Elaine Beedle, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. She was born on March 24, 1926 in Holdrege the only child born to William and Carrie (Larson) Woolsey, who later divorced.  She spent her first sixteen years under the care of her mother and her grandparents. She attended Phelps County School District #39 for her primary education and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1942.

After her education, Elaine was employed by Grainger Bros. until 1944, when she moved to Los Angeles, California with her friend Esther Huss.

On February 28, 1946, she married Gerald D. Beedle in Los Angeles after his discharge from the U.S. Navy where he served as a yeoman on various ships in the Pacific during World War II.  The couple then returned to Holdrege where she was employed in the office of Central Nebraska Public Power & Irrigation District (CNPPID) until the birth of her daughter, Teresa Layne in 1950.

In 1951, she was employed as an accountant at Claussen, Olson, Benner contractors. Later, she was employed for many years as the Holdrege Junior High School secretary and then as the bookkeeper at Holdrege Floral. She and Gerald moved to Johnson Lake, then the couple returned to Holdrege in 2008.

She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, travel and following the activities of friends and relatives.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sara S. Olson; and a brother-in-law, Derald G. Beedle.

Elaine is survived by her husband Gerald, of Holdrege; her daughter, Teresa Beedle and her husband, Tom Dunham of Nevada City, California; two brothers: Roger D. Olson, and his wife Betsy of Holdrege, Edward Olson and his wife, Judy of Holdrege; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Paulsen and her husband, Marv of Holdrege, Shirley England and her husband, Paul of Holdrege and Maxine Beedle of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Dale Beedle and his wife, Judy of Arapahoe, Nebraska; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no Visitation.

A memorial has been established in Elaine's honor and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Phelps Memorial Hospital Foundation or the donor's charity choice.
