Calvia R Jackson

Funeral Services for Calvia R. Jackson will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain DeWane Dow, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege following the services.

Calvia Rae "Cal" Jackson, 86 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege.  Calvia was born March 7, 1928 at Holdrege, the seventh of nine children of Roy and Catherine (Adkins) Blauvelt.  The family moved to Holdrege from Atwood, Kansas prior to Calvia being born.  She received her education from Holdrege Public Schools.

Following her education she was united in marriage to Jack E. Jackson on November 12, 1946 and to this union one son, Scott was born.  The family made their home in Holdrege.  Cal then received her training in Cosmetology and owned and operated Cal's Beauty Shop from her home in Holdrege until her retirement.  On June 2, 1999 she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack.

She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the BPO Does #161, where she held several offices through the years.  In early years she and Jack loved to go dancing.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Scott Jackson and his special friend, Pam Johnson of Elwood, Nebraska; one sister, LaDonna Hanson of Boulder, Colorado; sister-in-law, Ali Blauvelt of San Diego, California and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers:  Irven Blauvelt and Bruce Blauvelt; five sisters: Pearl Exceen, Viola Jones, Neila Von Loh, Rose Olson and LaDena Menz.

Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Cal's honor and kindly suggested to the Christian Homes Care Community or the donor's choice.
