Funeral Services for Carl A. Lashley will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Darrel Wissmann officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege. All that attend are encouraged to ride their motorcycle or classic car or truck.
Carl Alan Lashley, 54 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska on Thursday, July 27, 2017 after a battle with cancer. Carl was born on February 26, 1963 in Sidney, Nebraska the ninth of eleven children born to Charles F. and Nora Mae (Howlett) Lashley, Sr. He received his education from Dell City High School in Dell City, Texas.
Growing up, he and his family lived in Western Nebraska, where he helped on the family farm and helped other farmers. Following his formal education, he worked as an over the road truck driver and later, worked for several companies, erecting center pivots. Most recently, Carl worked for Cargill in Oxford, until his health began to fail.
Carl enjoyed watching NASCAR races, collecting model cars, attending car shows and riding his motorcycle. Most recently, he was proud to be able to show his 1967 Ford XL Fastback, in Holdrege during Swedish Days and in Kearney, Nebraska, at Cruise Night.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale Lashley, Sr. and Gary Lashley, Sr.; brother-in-law, William Hood; and two sisters-in-law, Starr Lashley and Donna Hart.
Those left to celebrate his life include: his brothers: Roy Lashley, Sr. and his wife, Sarah of Sylvester, West Virginia, Floyd Lashley and his wife, Beverly of Bertrand, Roger Lashley, Sr. of Oxford, Nebraska, Charles Lashley, Jr of North Platte, Nebraska and Walter Lashley of Hesperia, California; three sisters, Linda Hood of El Paso, Texas, Nora Jean Hodges and her husband, Frank, Jr. of El Paso and Sharon Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sisters-in-law, Colleen Lashley of El Paso and Vi Cherry of Kearney; along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7: 30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Carl's honor and kindly suggested to ruralMED Resource Services & Home Health Care in Holdrege.
