Celebration of life services for Carol J. Blue will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska, with Pastor Brian Jenkins officiating. Interment will be held following the services at Oxford Cemetery.

Carol Jean Blue, 92 years of age of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford) passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born December 6, 1925, in rural Phelps County, Nebraska, the older of two children born to Wallace "Foxy" and Enid Lorraine (Bryant) Best.  She received her education at Oxford High School, where she graduated with the class of 1943. After graduation she moved to Downey, California, where she helped assemble B-25 bomber aircraft. She then returned to Oxford, where she worked at Nissen's Department Store and Winkler's IGA Grocery. Carol was later employed at Becton Dickinson, where she was employed for 20 years until her retirement.  After retirement, she worked as the custodian at the First Baptist Church for several years.

On December 6, 1948, she was united in marriage to Andrew E. Blue at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, and the couple was blessed with four sons: Wallace, Donald, Ronald and Curtis. The family made their home in Oxford.

Carol was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford, and a Gold Star member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She treasured her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Carol sent cards for every birthday, anniversary, or special event.  She enjoyed sending encouraging notes in those cards.

Besides her parents and husband, Andy, she was preceded in death by her sons, Wallace James "Jim" Malone and Curtis Alan Blue; daughters-in-law: Terre Meader Blue and Shirley Blincow Blue; grandson, Aaron Blue; and brother, Donald "Bud" Best and his wife, Mary Ellen.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her children: Donald Blue and his wife, Carol of Klein, Texas, and Ronald Blue and his wife, Pam of Elkhorn, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Michelle Hunter and her husband, Travis of Holdrege, Nebraska, Heidi Sanger and her husband Ken of Royse City, Texas, Ronee Hollrah and her husband, Derek of Olathe, Kansas, Derek Blue and his wife Karla of San Antonio, Texas, Laura Patterson and her husband Michael of Tomball, Texas, and Nolan Blue and his wife Jena of Sachse, Texas, and Kim Crozier and husband, Jeff of Bristol, Virginia; 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Carol's honor, and kindly suggested to the First Baptist Church in Oxford.
