Memorial Mass for Carol A. Fisher will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alma, Nebraska with Father Jamie Hottovy officiating.  Private family inurnment will be held at the Alma Cemetery at a later date.

Carol Ann Fisher, 74 years of age, of Republican City, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin, Nebraska.  Carol was born June 28, 1941 at Mitchell, South Dakota, the eldest of five children born to Vincent Charles and Edna Louise (Pigney) Dunn.  Carol was baptized at the Notre Dame Catholic Church in Mitchell, South Dakota as an infant and later confirmed at the St. Joseph's Cathedral at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She received her education from St. Joseph's Cathedral Schools, graduating with the class of 1959.

On September 17, 1959, she was united in marriage to Roger D. Tweedy at the St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls and to this union three daughters were born:  Tamara Lynn, Sandra Beth, and Patricia Ann.  The family made their home in Norfolk from 1959 – 1977 until settling in Holdrege, Nebraska.

On June 10, 1983, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Fisher at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.  With this union Carol was accepting of Bob's son, Robert Jr.  After relocating to Lincoln, Carol pursued a career in counseling at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where she received her Associates Degree in Counseling.  She then put her talent of counseling to work at St. Monica's Halfway House in Lincoln until 1987.  The next thirteen years Carol was employed at the Independent Center in Lincoln.  She then assisted her husband, Robert with his business, Fisher Auto Glass in Davey, Nebraska from 1985 until 2005, at which time they moved to Republican City.

Throughout the years, Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church in Republican City, the St. Joseph's Cathedral, active with the St. Joseph's Catholic Daughters, member of the Young Democrats for John F. Kennedy, active with the Committee for Welfare Reform in Nebraska, served as the Secretary of Women in Treatment, member of St. Monica's Alumni Association, served on the Board of Directors of Houses for Hope, and past member of the Hoesch Memorial Library Board.

Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by one brother, Maurice J. Dunn.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her husband, Robert Fisher of Republican City; three daughters:  Tammy Slater and her husband, Bill of Doniphan, Nebraska, Sandy Artz and her husband, Jeff of Alma, and Patsy Thorell and her husband, Brian of Hays, Kansas; step-son, Robert C. Fisher, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren:  Zach Artz and his wife, Sarah, Alex Artz and his fiancé, Jess Edgar, and Abby Artz, and Jake and Peyton Thorell; one step-grandson, Joseph Fisher; three sisters:  Mary Thomsen of Boise, Idaho, Jean Kitchell and her husband, Tom of Ipswich, South Dakota and Elaine Ottiniano and her husband, George of Torrance, California; sister-in-law, Vicki Dunn of Scottsdale, Arizona and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no memorial book signing, the family is honoring Carol's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Carol's honor and kindly suggested to the Hoesch Memorial Library in Alma.
