Carole Ann Smith Larson
November 29, 1946 – January 11, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Carole Ann Smith Larson, 78, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Carole spent her life bringing kindness, creativity, and love to those around her.
Carole married her husband of 56 years, Robert "Rob" Larson, in 1969. Together, they raised two children, Lori (Mark) and Robert II (Tamara), cherished their five grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
A graduate of Englewood High School and Regis College, Carole's career included contributions to aerospace advancements at Lockheed Martin and sharing her skills as a Bernina instructor at The Creative Needle. In 2004, she and Rob founded Willow Creek Embroidery in North Platte, where her passion for creativity flourished for nearly 20 years.
Carole's hobbies included quilting, collecting Department 56 Christmas Villages, and listening to historical fiction audiobooks. Her cherished memories of Rocky Mountain National Park, Lake Granby, and time near the ocean reflected her love for beauty and tranquility.
Carole is preceded in death by her "Grammie" Ann W. LeGrande, and parents Jean Carol LeGrande Smith and James Smith. She is survived by her husband, Rob; her children; her grandchildren; her great-granddaughter; her siblings and her niece.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at New Life Church, 110 14th Avenue, Holdrege, Nebraska 68949. An inurnment will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska, at a future time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phelps Memorial Health Center or Rocky Mountain National Park.
