Caroline A. Langenberg

Funeral Services for Caroline A. Langenberg will be conducted from the United Methodist Church in Bertrand, Nebraska on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Connie Karr and Reverend Cathi Braasch, officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand.

Caroline Anna Langenberg, 95 years of age, of Bertrand, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Bertrand Nursing Home. Caroline was born January 22, 1912, one mile west of Bertrand on the family farm in Gosper County, Nebraska, the fourth of five children of August Herman and Matta Karoline (Hallier) Langenberg. She received her education at rural school District #40 in Gosper County.

Following her education, Caroline resided on the family farm with her parents and two brothers, assisting the family in the farming operation. Besides working side-by-side with her brothers, she made a home and cared for them until their passing. She continued to live on the family farm west of Bertrand, until moving to the Bertrand Nursing Home in August of 2005. In August of 2006, she was honored in Gosper County with the Ak-Sar-Ben Family Farm Award in recognition of the family farm ownership of 100 years.

Caroline was baptized and confirmed at the Hope Lutheran Church in rural Smithfield as a young lady and later in life attended the United Methodist Church in Bertrand. She also enjoyed tending to the garden and flowers.

She leaves to mourn her passing her a niece, Ruth Jurgens of Cozad, Nebraska (who she loved as a daughter); two nieces-in-law: Shirley Langenberg of Bertrand and Arlene Dillon of Kearney, Nebraska; twelve great nieces and nephews and other relatives including, special cousin, Albert Langenberg and his wife, Norma of Bertrand. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Chester Langenberg and his wife, Amanda and Harry and Lester Langenberg; one sister, Livina Ernst and her husband, Jake; two nieces: Lavona Marquardt and her husband, George and Roberta Ernst; two nephews: Wayne and LaVern Langenberg; and a nephew-in-law, Jerry Lee Jurgens.

Caroline will lie in state at the Sandstrom Funeral Home in Bertrand on Thursday, January 25, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
