A funeral service for Carolyn A. Olesen will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Jan Gluth King and Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Carolyn Ann (Lindstrom) Olesen, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Carolyn was born in Wilcox, Nebraska on March 26, 1930, the third of six children, born to Laurence and Elsie (Urbom) Lindstrom. She was baptized on June 22, 1930, and later confirmed on October 21, 1945. She received her primary education from District #8 Country school and then attended and graduated from Holdrege High School, with the class of 1948.
On June 16, 1951, Carolyn was united in marriage to Elliott "Ole" Olesen at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege and to this union two children were born: Tommy and Diane. The couple made their home in Holdrege, where Carolyn focused on her family and later when they began school, she started working at Tri-County Irrigation, Banker's Life Insurance (Bruce Hendrickson), and then Home Federal Bank. During her retirement years, Carolyn enjoyed helping out at First National Bank.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she served on numerous committees and helping where ever she was needed. Carolyn was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed many sewing projects, including: sewing dresses for granddaughters, Western wear for other family members, and quilt tops for the church and would help assemble the quilts together with the Church Ladies.
Carolyn was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Elliott in 2012; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Millie (Christensen) Olesen; two sisters: Marilyn (Richard) Gloor; and Ilene (Wally) Brown; her brother, Gerald (Martha) Lindstrom; brother-in-law, DeWayne Alexander; nephew, Roger Wyatt; one sister-in-law, Chrystal Keedle and her husband, Aljern; and a great-granddaughter, Addison.
Carolyn is survived by her two children: Tom Olesen and his wife, Janis of Smithfield, Nebraska; and Diane Samuelson and her husband, Kent of Loomis, Nebraska; six grandchildren and their families: Shannon Hueftle and husband, Bobby, and their children: Regaen, Aleya, Hadley, and Wyatt of Smithfield; Drew Olesen and wife, Jessie, and their children: Waylon and Drake of Smithfield; Adriane Garrett and husband, John, and their children: Kenleigh, Brantley, and Cruz of Hordville, Nebraska; Andrew Samuelson, and son, Cole of Holdrege; Adam Samuelson and wife, Jeni, and their children, Taeylor, Luke, and Samantha of Axtell, Nebraska; and Amy Rademaker and husband, Sean, and their children, Zachary, and Zoey of Loomis; two sisters: Cathryn Alexander of Gothenburg, Nebraska; and Millie Brown and husband, Jim of Holdrege; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Carolyn's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
