Catharyne Alice "Cathy" Halbur, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021, at the CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska.  Cathy was born on October 12, 1938, in Holdrege, Nebraska, the eldest of six children born to, Elmer Floyd and Viola May (Blauvelt) Jones.  She grew up north of Loomis, Nebraska, and was her dad's right-hand helper as she loved working alongside him on the farm.  She received her primary education from Hillside Country School and then attended and graduated from Loomis High School, with the class of 1956.

Cathy worked hard and enjoyed whatever work she had to do. She loved to cook and made a career out of it working at several different locations serving up breakfasts and noon meals for local customers.  Cathy got such a great joy from serving others.

Cathy moved to North Glenn, Colorado where she raised her four daughters. She served her community as a volunteer on the local ambulance crew and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Cathy was very talented in embroidery work and made countless t-towels, aprons, pillow cases, and other items for gifts.  She loved to read and garden and take riding trips and walks with Pat and her doggy friend Mitzi.  Cathy and Pat traveled all over the Midwest following Pat's career. Everywhere they went Cathy made great friends.

She worked with her sister Laura, for many local people cleaning their homes and was committed to this work for many years until her retirement.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: one granddaughter, Sarah Ashley Simmons; one brother, Larry Jones and his wife, Lynn; one son-in-law James Marnati.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her longtime best friend and companion for over 40 years, Pat Renquist of Holdrege; four daughters:  Trudy Marnati of Salude, South Carolina; Julie Horton and her husband, Mike of Thornton, Colorado; Crescentia Simmons and her husband, Barry of Ogallala, Nebraska; Johni Skalak and her husband, Ken of Platteville, Colorado; 11 grandchildren:  Marlana Noel and her husband, Sean; Frank Marnati; Trenton Marnati and his wife, Danielle; Meagon Marnati; Nichole Horton; Wesley Horton and his wife, Victoria; Kyle Simmons; Conner Simmons; Thomas Simmons; Brandon Skalak and his wife, Amber; Brentton Skalak; 15 great-grandchildren:  Courtney, Ryan, and Cassey Noel; Chelsea Marnati; Caleb, Aubrey, and Graham Marnati; Gavin Horton; Loomis, Mila, and Logan Horton; Nathan, Ethan, and Benjamin Skalak; Emma Skalak; two sisters:  Corliss Stewart and her husband, Norman of Kearney, Nebraska, and Laura St. Clair and Will Watson of Arapahoe, Nebraska; two brothers: Kim Jones of Alma, and Nathan Jones and his wife, Debbie of Lingle, Wyoming; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
