Cecil Gene Lindstrom, 91years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Cecil was born at home near Sacramento, Nebraska, on May 11, 1934, the second of three children of Carl Hilbert and Ida Christianna (Garrelts) Lindstrom. Cecil was baptized at his home as an infant and was confirmed at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, on June 29, 1947, by Pastor Marvin D. Johnson. Cecil received his primary education near Sacramento, in Districts #8 and #10, and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1951.

On April 20th, 1958, Cecil was united in marriage to Karen Bloomfield at the First Christian Church in Minden, Nebraska.  This union was blessed with three children: Jill Marlene, James Albert, and Jack Winton. Cecil started his career in 1953, working for the Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District in the surveying department. While he worked for CNPPID, he was also in the National Guard from 1954 to March 17, 1961. In 1962, he went to work for the Nebraska Department of Roads, as an engineering aid, and then in 1971, he returned to work for CNPPID, until his retirement in May of 1999.

Cecil loved his grandchildren and attended their many activities over the years. He was active in the Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department and the rescue unit from 1958 to 1988, where he also served as the Assistant Fire Chief. Cecil loved to hunt and had a duck blind on the Platte River, up into his 90s. After retirement, his interest in windmills drew him to windmill trade shows in Texas and Nebraska. In 2000, Cecil built a full-sized wooden windmill, that now stands on his parent's farm south of Funk.

In 1958, Cecil transferred his membership to Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege and later to Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church in Holdrege.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Ida Lindstrom; one brother, Glen Lindstrom and his wife, Larileen; two brothers-in-law: Addison Johnson; and Stan Anderson; and his parents-in-law, Albert and Wilma Bloomfield.
