Cecilia L. Jones

Mass of Christian Burial Service for Cecilia L. (Horwart) Jones will be conducted from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans, Nebraska on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Harlan Waskowiak, officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery at Orleans.

Cecilia Louise (Horwart) Jones, 89 years of age, of Orleans, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at her home in Orleans. Cecilia was born August 13, 1917 on the family farm west of Orleans in Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of ten children of Alois and Anna (Loeven) Flammang. Cecilia received her education at the St. Mary's Catholic School in Orleans. Following her education, Cecilia assisted the family on the family farm.

On February 18, 1939 she was united in marriage to Merle Horwart at Orleans and to this union seven children were born: Lynda Louise, Terrill Anne, Ronald Merle, Stanley Joseph, Norman Gayle, William Lee and Douglas Eugene. They made their home six miles south of Stamford, where they engaged in farming. Cecilia focused her efforts raising their children and working side-by-side with her husband, Merle. Later they moved to a farm two miles east of Stamford in the early 1940's, where they continued to farm until Merle's passing on October 31, 1976. In 1980, Cecilia moved to Hastings, Nebraska, where she enjoyed many friendship bonds formed in several clubs. On May 24, 1987 she was united in marriage to John Jones. In 1994 the couple moved to Orleans, where Cecilia was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, and involved in many activities. She also was a member of the Friendship Club, Birthday Club, enjoyed sewing, embroidery, tending to her garden and attending her grandchildren's activities. Following the death of her husband, John, Cecilia continued to live in Orleans until her passing.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters: Lynda Stewart and her husband, James of Lincoln, Nebraska and Terrill Quattrocchi and her husband, Louie of Ord, Nebraska; three sons: Ron Horwart and his wife, Sheryl of San Clemente, California, Bill Horwart and his wife, Connie of Stamford, Nebraska and Doug Horwart and his wife, Jodi of Stamford; daughter-in-law, Sharron Horwart of Bella Vista, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Frank Horwart of Stamford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her two husbands, Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Norman Horwart and Stanley Horwart; one grandson, Gregory Stewart; five brothers: John, Leo, Lawrence, Nicholas and Michael Flammang; four sisters: Elizabeth Hoffman, Philomena Hoffman, Josephine Schmidt and Clara Graf.

Cecilia will lie in state at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans on Monday, June 4, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary Service held at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
