Memorial Services for Cedric Fuerst will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth, Nebraska with Pastors Steve and Patti Byrne officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Hildreth Cemetery at Hildreth.
Cedric V. Fuerst, 61 years of age, of Florence, Colorado, (formerly of Hildreth and rural Wilcox, Nebraska) died on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Park View Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado, following complications from surgery. Cedric was born on November 2, 1955 in Minden, Nebraska, the second of three sons born to Leonard and Justine (Chenevert) Fuerst. He grew up on a farm outside of Wilcox, and at age 14, his family immigrated to Australia. The family farmed in Coleambally, New South Wales. He graduated from Coleambally School with his Higher School Certificate.
As a young man, Cedric worked at the rice mills and eventually, moved to Sydney, Australia, where he worked as a chauffeur for the Art Gallery of New South Wales. He returned to the family farming operation near Coleambally, and while on vacation in Hildreth, he met his future wife, Paige. They were married the following year in Benkelman, Nebraska. The couple returned to the family farm in Australia, and over the next six years, they welcomed two children: Garret and Allison.
In 1988, the family returned to the United States, where Cedric furthered his education at Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska with a degree in Drafting. The family settled in Holdrege, Nebraska, where he worked at Becton-Dickinson. In 2016, Cedric moved to Florence, where he worked as a Supervisor at a fish hatchery.
Cedric enjoyed working outside, spending time with friends, and his dog, Bandit. To say Cedric was a motorcycle enthusiast is an understatement! He loved riding with family and friends. He was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church while living in Holdrege.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Fuerst, and nephew, David Fuerst.
Cedric leaves to celebrate his life; his children: Garret Fuerst of North Platte, Nebraska, and Allison Fuerst of Ashland, Nebraska; mother, Justine Campbell and her husband, Len of Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia; brothers: Eric Fuerst and his wife, Connie of Brisbane, Queensland, and John Fuerst and his wife, Nerelle of Marybroughough, Queensland; special uncle and aunt: Jim Fuerst and his wife, Tami of Hildreth; former wife, Paige Fuerst of Holdrege; along with many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
There will be no visitation. His wish was for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Cedric's honor and will be designated at a later date.
