Graveside Memorial Service and inurnment for Chance Upson will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating.

Chance Jackson Upson, 19 years of age, of Atlanta, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Atlanta.  Chance was born September 14, 1998 in Fort Worth, Texas and came back to Nebraska with his mother, when he was six days old.  At a young age, he went to live in Atlanta with his aunt and uncle, Marti and Kyle Johnson.  Chance began Kindergarten at Franklin Elementary School in Holdrege, finishing his high school education in May 2017, at Holdrege High School.

As a young child, Chance spent many hours at the park in Atlanta, as well as at his grandparents' farm, with cousins Dillion and Dawn.  He loved all of grandpa's animals and loved to ride horses. He learned to love hunting and cleaning deer with their grandpa.  Chance was very friendly, outgoing, and had many friends.

Chance enjoyed participating in golf in high school, fishing and loved riding his dirt bike.

Chance was preceded in death by his; uncle, Shane Upson in 2014; grandpa, Margle Upson in 2016; great-grandparents, Eleanor and James Johnson, and Harry and Hilda Upson.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his mom, Jodi Upson of Lincoln, Nebraska; aunt and uncle:  Marti Johnson and her husband, Kyle of Atlanta; sister, Carlli Sellers of Grand Island, Nebraska; grandmother, Janice Upson of rural Loomis, Nebraska; aunts:  Vicki Roeder and her husband, David of Coffeyville, Kansas and Micki Gehrig and her husband, Roger of Alma, Nebraska; uncle:  Jeff Johnson and his wife, Tink of Amherst, Nebraska; cousins: Dillon and Dawn Upson, and their mother, Lisa Burkholder, of Holdrege;  Kactus Bidwell and her husband, Miles, and their children Kash and Konlee; and Kanyon Kelly, all of Severy, Kansas; along with extended family members and many friends.

Memorial Book Signing will be held on Monday, May 14 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Chance's honor and will be designated at a later date.
