Funeral Services for Charles L. Vosburg will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow, officiating.  Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, with military honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team.

Charles Leo "Charley" Vosburg, 88 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege.  Charley was born March 8, 1930 in Orleans, Nebraska, the tenth of fourteen children to Wilbur A. and Clara A. (Brandt) Vosburg.  He received his education from Orleans Public School, graduating from Orleans High School with the class of 1948.  Following his education, he worked for Missouri Valley Construction in Orleans, until moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was employed by Iowa Manufacturing as a crane operator.

On November 24, 1952, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Rankin of Oxford at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and to this union three children were born:  Becky, Scott, and Kurt.  The family made their home in Holdrege.  On August 18, 1953, Charley was inducted into the United States Navy serving his country, stationed in Newfoundland and Cuba until his honorable discharge on August 10, 1955.  He then continued to serve in a Reserve capacity for several years.

Following his service, Charley returned to Phelps County, and was employed by Claussen-Olson & Benner Construction, and then operated the Derby Station until his long career as a truck driver for Allmand Brothers in Holdrege, traveling coast-to-coast within the United States and several Provinces in Canada until his retirement in 1997.  In retirement years, Charley enjoyed driving truck hauling corn for Jeff Soneson.

Charley was an avid reader, enjoyed tending to his garden, and loved spending time with his family.  In addition to his Navy service, Charley was a devoted member of the Martin Horn American Legion Post #66, serving on the honor guard for many years as long as his health permitted.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers:  Francis, Paul, Sevrille, and Cyril; and six sisters:  Mary, Martha, Evelyn, Margaret, Agnes, and Irene.

Charley leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of almost 66 years, Barbara Vosburg of Holdrege; his daughter, Becky Vosburg of Holdrege; two sons:  Scott Vosburg and his wife, Euna of Holdrege; and Kurt Vosburg and his wife, Rebecca of McCook, Nebraska; one grandson, Ian Vosburg and his wife, Kaitlin of Lincoln, Nebraska; one great-granddaughter, Kenley Vosburg; one brother, Marion Vosburg and his wife, Laurel of Oceano, California; two sisters:  Monica LaBertaux and her husband, Cal of Apex, North Carolina, and Janice Cepure of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Lila Rankin of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
