Funeral Services for Charles Henry Ellis, Jr. will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Sowden officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at the Oxford Cemetery.

Charlie Henry Ellis, Jr., 75 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Charles was born November 8, 1936 in Holdrege, Nebraska the oldest of two sons born to Charles Henry Ellis, Sr. and Estelean Coe. He attended and graduated with the Oxford High School Class of 1955.

Charlie enlisted in the National Guard and later served with the Army, for a total of six years until he hurt his back. After he returned from the service, he worked for Willis Woodring in Holdrege for many years.
In May 1957 he was united in marriage to Wanda Sullivan and to this union four children were born: Julie, Jeffery, Jill and John. In 1965 he and his wife owned and operated the Oxford Merchandise Center until they sold the business in 1976. In 1974, he owned and operated Oxford Motors until his retirement in 2010. Charlie was an Oxford Business man for 45 plus years.

Charlie enjoyed playing cards, going to auctions, visiting with friends and cars (wheelin and dealin).

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Ellis.

Charlie is survived by his children: Julie Seimer of Gothenburg, Jeffery Ellis and his wife, Jane of Holdrege, Jill Sutton and her husband, Blake of Holdrege, John Ellis and special friend, Samantha Scharvin of Oxford; six grandchildren: Jeron and Jett Seimer, Jessica and Jordan Ellis and Jake and Joelle McGee, sister-in-law: Lila Ellis of Shreavport, LA, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford from 1:00 p.m. –8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated to the Oxford American Legion Post # 219.
