Funeral Services for Charles M. Falk will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jones, officiating. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Cemetery, rural Axtell, Nebraska.
Charles Marion Falk, 93 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege, NE.
Charles was born July 23, 1918, south of Axtell in rural Kearney County, the eldest of two sons born to Carl Gust and Anna Marie (Anderson) Falk. Charles received his primary education at Kearney County District # 9 and then graduated from Wilcox High School in 1936. He pursued higher education at Kearney State College for one year.
After graduation, he farmed with his brother Don in rural Kearney County. He loved working with his hands, including welding, working on tractors and mechanical work.
On December 27, 1980, he was united in marriage to Katherine Kimball at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege.
On January 27, 1990, he was united in marriage to Verna Lee Todd at the Salem Church, in rural Axtell, NE.
Charles was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, the Wilcox Lions Club and Gideon's International. He was associated with the Salem Church Restoration Project. He enjoyed volunteering at the Phelps County Senior Center, popping popcorn and assisting with pancake feeds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two step-sons, Jimmy Dean Haussermann and Donald Paul Haussermann.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Verna Lee of Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege; two step-sons: Dr. Robert Hausserman and his wife, Carol of Appleton, WS, and Gary Haussermann and his wife, Cherlyn of Central City, NE; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother: Don Falk and his wife, Eleanor of Sun City, AZ; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
