Charlotte "Charlie" Kay Melchior-Bunn, 71 years of age, of Holdrege, (formerly of Alma) passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Charlotte was born on July 27, 1948, in Norfolk, Nebraska, the 6th of 9 children to Merton and Elaine (Donner) Lindsay.
At a young age, she and her family moved to Denver, Colorado. She received her education from Denver Public Schools, graduating from South High in 1965. In 1967, she was united in marriage to Loren Leander Wescott, and to this union three children were born: Aaron, Stacy, and Jamie. She and her family made their home in Denver. In 1982, her life would change drastically when she lost Loren due to cancer. In 1984, she was united in marriage to Frank Melchior, and widowed again in 1984. She found love for the third time with Robert W. Bunn Sr., and was united in marriage in 1987. In 1998, Charlie and her family relocated to Bailey, Colorado and then in 1992, the family moved to Stamford, Nebraska.
Heavily influenced by her mother, Charlie was known for her delicious cooking. She worked in the restaurant business the majority of her life, managing and cooking at various restaurants in Colorado. When she moved to Nebraska, she and her sister, Jo operated the café in Stamford, which was call "The Piggery". She then moved to Alma, where she worked at the Harlan House and Alma Senior Center. Charlie also had a knack for arts and crafts, and ran a successful ceramic shop in Bailey prior to moving to Nebraska.
While Charlie loved to cook, her true passion was her family. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, and was a big kid at heart. She loved to tell her grandkids stories, and craft with them. She made them numerous Halloween costumes, and it was a guarantee that she would buy them more Christmas and birthday gifts than they would ever need!
Besides her parents, Charlie was preceded in death by her husbands: Loren Wescott, Frank Melchior, and Robert Bunn Sr.; two sisters: Jo Lee and her husband, Jim; Marian Simpson and her husband, Ron; one brother, Herb Lindsay; sisters-in-law: Mickey Lindsay, and Rose Lindsay; brother-in-law, Jim Howard; and special friend, Roger Feese.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her son, Aaron Wescott and his wife, Jen of Pueblo, Colorado; two daughters: Stacy Latter and her husband, Craig of Funk, Nebraska; and Jamie Schmeits and her husband, Josh of Kearney, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Owen Wescott, Sarah Smith, Heather (Quyntin) Lord, Brittany (Luke) Morrow, Leighton Latter, Collin Latter, Lainey Schmeits, and Lauren Schmeits; three great-grandchildren: Avalyn Smith, Elena Lord, and Kambria Morrow; one sister, Deanna Howard of Alma; four brothers: Larry and Jenny Lindsay of Apache Junction, Arizona; James Lindsay of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; Thomas Lindsay of Denver, Colorado; and Robert Lindsay of Denver, Colorado; brother-in-law, Myron Wescott of Lake Havasu, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
