Funeral Services for Charlotte Kumpost will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Gene Layne officiating. Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, Nebraska.
Charlotte Alice Kumpost, 86 years of age, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Good Samaritan Health Systems in Kearney, Nebraska. Charlotte was born on October 27, 1925 the third of three children, to Ralph Varnum and Bertha Belle (Barnes) Ball at Shelby, Nebraska. She attended public school and graduated from Shelby High School with the Class of 1943.
In 1947 in Kearney, she met the love of her life James E. Kumpost. They were married November 9, 1947 in Columbus, Nebraska. They started married life on a farm south of Overton, in the Williamsburg community. Charlotte and Jim walked side by side raising 10 children.
Charlotte worked at Holdrege Memorial Homes for 15 years.
Serving at Trinity and later at Emmuas Evangelical Free Churches on the state and local level meant a great deal to her. Charlotte went on many mission trips with Wendell's Warriors of Kearney, Nebraska to the Rock Church of Chicago, Illinois. Charlotte's passion was spending time with her family. Charlotte enjoyed baking, quilting, sewing, crafts, crocheting and gardening.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband in 1984, one son, Edward in 1990, a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Anna Scow and her husband, Ed, and her brother, Vernard Ball.
Survivors include her children: Mary Lou Jensen of Kearney, Nebraska, James Kumpost and his wife, Laura of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Barbara Schuetz of Holdrege, Nebraska, David Kumpost and his wife, Beth of Anchorage, Alaska, Donald Kumpost and his wife, Liz of Schertz, Texas, Patty Beaudette of Holdrege, Nebraska, Robert Kumpost and his wife, Crystal of Kearney, Missouri, Richard Kumpost and his wife, Dana of Lincoln, Nebraska, Timothy Kumpost of Holdrege, Nebraska, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Marie Johnson of Vancouver, Washington, a niece, two nephews, along with other relatives and dear friends.
Private family visitation will take place.
Memorials may be designated to Gideon's International, the Phelps County 4-H Foundation, Holdrege Public Library or Donor's Choice.
