Charlotte J. Larson

Funeral Services for Charlotte J. Larson will be conducted from the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, Nebraska on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverends William Waterman and Erica Harley , officiating. Interment will be in the Fridhem Cemetery at Funk.

Charlotte Joan Larson, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. Charlotte was born January 30, 1927 at Bertrand, Nebraska, the daughter of Paul H. and Lenore H. (Jessen) Sunblade. She received her education at Loomis, Nebraska, until the family relocated to Holdrege, where she graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1944.

On April 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Earl W. Larson at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk and to this union four children were born: Jerry, David, Kathryn and James. Earl and Charlotte began living on the family homestead two miles east of Funk, where she focused on raising the children and enjoyed her involvement in various clubs and organizations. In 1997, the couple moved into Funk and resided there until 2009, when they moved to Holdrege.

She was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church, where she was active in many capacities including the women's ministries. Charlotte was also a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary, where she was a Gold Star Mother, member of the H.O.A. "Help-One-Another" Club, several bridge clubs, birthday clubs, and enjoyed her involvement with her exercise club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David in 1970; step-father, Virgil Troxel; and step-sister, LaDonna Richardson.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 64 years, Earl of Holdrege; two sons: Jerry Larson and his wife, Linda of Axtell, Nebraska, Jim Larson and his wife, Wendy of Funk; one daughter, Kathryn Illingworth and her husband, Stephen of Hastings; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; step-sister, Arlene Stewart of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Ray Larson and his wife, Arlene of Holdrege and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and kindly suggested to the Fridhem Lutheran Church or the Axtell Community School.
